We strive to produce goat cheese that provides the down to basic healthy goodness found in low temperature pasteurization. Our family and visitors to Swede Point Creamery enjoy watching the antics of our playful ladies and their kids as they frolic and play at our farm.
Since immigration from Sweden in the 1800s, the Olson family has raised livestock and farmed land near Madrid, Iowa, which was originally named Swede Point. Our grandmother, Ellen Olson, was known for her artisan butter making in the 1920s and 1930s. During the 1940s – 60s, the family milked cows and sold cream. At that time a cream truck collected cream from the local farms and would then haul it to a creamery for processing.
Today, owner Paula Olson has established Swede Point Creamery featuring goat cheeses and several varieties of chevre.
